Volunteer Requirements


Requirements for LONG-TERM volunteers (9 months of service or more):

  • Minimum age: 21 years old.
  • Dependable and flexible.
  • Willingness to share in community life.
  • Sense of humor.
  • Desire to serve others.
  • Complete driving records check, three personal references and a national background check.
  • Personal interview.

Provisions include:

  • Room and board (housing and food)
  • Potential health insurance benefits 
  • Monthly stipend
  • Loan deferment information
  • Opportunity to learn more about yourself and the Appalachian region.
  • Two spiritual retreats a year (Spring and Fall)
  • Potential AmeriCorps Education Award

Requirements for SUMMER and SHORT-TERM volunteers (3 weeks to 8 months of service):

Volunteers
  • Minimum Age: 18 years old. 
  • Commitment to community life, prayer life and service work.
  • Willing to serve for a minimum of 3 weeks.
  • Complete volunteer application requirements: three personal references and a criminal records check.

Provisions:

  • Room and board (housing and food)
  • Potential AmeriCorps Education Award
